The Mother of God House of Prayer is governed by an active Board of Directors who serve two year renewable terms. The Board consists of committed Christian men and women who have themselves benefited from the ministry of the House of Prayer. They attend board meetings and make decisions with hearts attentive to the House of Prayer mission, as well as hearts shaped by their own skills and talents in the business world.

Nestled in the unspoiled tropical woodlands of Alva, a tiny town on the Caloosahatchee River, the Mother of God House of Prayer is one of Southwest Florida's best kept secrets.  A charming retreat and spirituality center founded in 1982, the House of Prayer serves the needs of all who come seeking spiritual growth.

Accomodations include five sapcious guest bedrooms and two full baths, a small Eucharistic chapel.  A library stocked with spiritual reading materials, and a solar heated swimming pool.

The House of Prayer is Catholic in foundation and ecumenical in welcome, welcoming everyone who desires to grow in their relationship with God.
